Just a few days till Mount Rainier! Looks to be a great another great adventure ahead as Summit for Soldiers heads out to climb Mt Rainier as the next highpoint on the campaign for PTSD/Suicide Awareness. There will be a Support Team and about 30 folks who have signed up to Hike in with the Climbing Team and send them on their way to the top. Special guest, Dan Mazur wil be joining the hike and will say a few words before we set off... What a privilege! The Hike is open to any and all who wish to come show their support while enjoying a great day of hiking, photography, and camaraderie. We will meet in the White River Parking lot to talk a bit about what SfS is doing, and then we will break off into small groups and avoid congregating any larger that groups of 12 per the park policy.

Our Route, the "circle" are tents at the high camp
Mount Rainier is the premiere mountaineering endeavor within the lower 48, as well as the highest point in the state of Washington. Several climbers have made careers out of ascending and even setting some of the routes on this mountain, many of which are extremely difficult and technical. We will be climbing from the north via the Emmon’s Glacier. When we step on to the trail (if the weather and mountain are kind) it will be 10,000 ft of climbing over the next 24-28hrs to reach the summit.

In addition, there will be a supporting hike from the White River campgorund to Glacier Basin to send off the Climbing Team, but more importantly it is a chance for folks to band together, learn about these important issues and show support for PTSD/Suicide Awareness. It is a 6.5 mile round trip, with wonderful views of the park and mountain.
