VISION:
Our Vision is to provide veterans and their families a means of “escape and reset” through our adventure programs and activities, by removing them from their isolation, encouraging them to reach out for help, join us in our mission to eliminate the stigma and promote early detection and treatment for service-related mental health issues, and ultimately to eradicate Veteran Suicides. The vision is to plant SfS Chapters across the country.

mission in action
Through outreach in our local communities, we can bring awareness to the prevalence, issues and resources surrounding service-related mental health injuries and veteran suicide. We also cast a “safety net” to help us reach the unreached.
Through our outdoor activities and adventure programs we call “ADVEN-THERAPY” we hope to draw out struggling veterans, service-members and families from their deadly “isolation” and reconnect through camaraderie along with providing a non-judgemental, safe and open forum for sharing and support.
Through our Personal Testamonies we do more than just “Say” you are not alone, we can “Show” that you are not alone. Our hope is that by sharing our personal struggles, stories and experiences we can encourage other struggling veterans to move beyond the stigma, reach out for help and then start helping others.
Through our stories and experiences along with fact based information from the DOD and other helpful resources, we hope to empower the next generation of service-members and veterans to change the mindset from the ground up, eliminating the stigma and promoting early detection and treatment.

What we have been up to:
We hold to 3 key concepts in all that we try and do: Awareness, Simplicity, and Encouragement
“Awareness” We are raising Nationwide Awareness on PTSD and Veteran Suicides! Here are some Key Points:
“Simplicity” Is about sharing and connecting veterans and family members to the variety of resources that exist across the country. We don't want to re-invent the wheel... just spin it! Especially if those other organizations, resources and activities are free and easily accessible to veterans. We are not counselors or mental health professionals, just a community of veterans and families that have been there, but we are all different and so we need to learn about ALL the options out there that might better fit our specific needs.
“Encouragement” Is about setting the example and encouraging others to stand u as role models to help us tear down the Stigma and promote early detection/treatment of service-related mental health injuries. We want to see a fraternity of warriors and veterans who are willing to reach out to our brothers and sisters in need especially within their respective units.
Mountains and Adventure is our thing! So, we will use every resource, outlet and means to get these points out and in the living rooms of homes across this country. The Highest point in each of the 50 States is symbolic to this cause! A famous mountaineering quote is “We don’t conquer the Mountains, we conquer Ourselves” Well, it couldn’t be more true and parallel with PTSD.

“Awareness” We are raising Nationwide Awareness on PTSD and Veteran Suicides! Here are some Key Points:
- Every 60-80 mins, 22 a day, and over 8000 veteran suicides a year!
- 1 in 9 to as many as 1 in 5 suffer from PTS
- 25,000 new cases of TBI/Yr
- Families often have no idea how to help or serve their Veteran.
- Someone who suffers from PTSD is NOT abnormal, it is a natural response to a traumatic event.
- You are not alone, there are plenty of people who have walked this road.
- Help is available at all levels. There are many programs out there.
- Stigma is Bad!
- A treated Warrior is strong and able to continue their career, untreated will always be more difficult.
- Suicides are off the wall! Know the warning signs and how to help.
